fresh air.
in the bathroom at work there is an air freshener. with a little whooshy noise it sends out a little puff of lavender-ish scented smelly stuff whenever it deems it necessary. i would like to know how it decides: if it is on a timer, or motion sensor, or if it somehow detects the level of stank in the room and freshens it up when it hits a certain level of gross... cuz it goes off pretty much every time i am in the bathroom. a couple times it hit me right when i was standing under it. i shower every day. i think its stank sensor is broken.

If they're anything like the ones in our shops and restrooms in Shenandoah, they DO operate on a timer and can be set to go off anywhere between every 3 minutes (if you want to be replacing the canisters all the time) and every 60 minutes.
Assuming--worst case scenario--they are set for every three minutes and also assuming that you are in the bathroom for three minutes, then your probability of experiencing a 'spray' = 1.
If you want to change any of the variables, P(spray) = (time spent in bathroom)/(time between sprays).
[Example: Spend 10 minutes in bathroom, Goes off every 60 minutes, P = 1/6.]
Or maybe your stank quotient is just higher than you think. :)
